ON TABLE 2.0 asymmetrical oak RPG table with burgundy playing field

Why an Asymmetrical RPG Table Gives the Game Master More Room

Most gaming tables begin with symmetry. ON TABLE 2.0 began with the needs of the people sitting around it — particularly the Game Master, whose books, notes, screen and campaign accessories require a different kind of working space.

Why symmetry is not always the best RPG layout

A symmetrical table looks orderly, but an RPG session is rarely symmetrical in practice. Players usually need space for a character sheet, dice, cards, notes and writing tools. The Game Master needs all of that plus rulebooks, adventure notes, a screen, maps, a laptop and the materials that keep the campaign moving.

For ON TABLE 2.0, the player stations are deliberately shifted away from the Game Master’s end. This creates a generous working zone without making the complete table unnecessarily larger. A matching oak worktop extension adds another surface for books and accessories.

Individual space for every player

Each player position has its own panel for character materials and gaming accessories. The layout keeps the frame organised and helps prevent dice, notes and cards from taking over the central playing area.

When the accessory recesses are not needed, matching oak covers conceal them. This changes the character of the frame and gives the table a cleaner, more restrained appearance between sessions.

Raising the complete 6′ × 4′ playing field

The recessed playing area measures 183 × 122 cm, approximately 6′ × 4′. Instead of lifting separate sections, the complete field can be raised mechanically with the crankshaft system. The mechanism makes it possible to change the working height of the playing surface while keeping terrain, miniatures and campaign elements together.

Burgundy in natural and illuminated form

The upholstery and playing surface have a deep natural burgundy colour. RGBW lighting can transform the atmosphere during a session, but when the light is switched off the material returns to its true colour. This allows the same table to move from a dramatic dungeon mood to a warm, traditional furniture setting.

Selected oak and four finishes

ON TABLE 2.0 is available in selected solid oak or the more affordable oak-slat construction. Both versions are finished with premium UV LED oil. The standard finish options are Pure, Invisible, Old English and Chocolate.

The optional overlay tabletop rests over the complete frame and converts the gaming table into a spacious dining or work table. Unlike a recessed insert, the overlay covers the frame from above and creates one continuous surface.

A starting point for an individual campaign

ON TABLE 2.0 is not intended as one universal answer imposed on every RPG group. It is a starting point that can be adapted to the way a particular campaign is played. Additional equipment can include a Game Master screen, upholstered armrests, integrated audio, inductive charging and USB ports.

Each table is handcrafted to order in Poland. The current estimated production lead time is approximately seven months.
